Holley LS Fest West - Las Vegas, NV [May 2019]
Welcome to the dry but beautiful West Coast!
Holley LS Fest WEST brought 144 Racing to sunny Las Vegas for my first competition after screen printing for a year. Or what I like to refer to as “getting my ass off of the couch.” This was my first time back behind the wheel in a competitive environment. This is my passion. And it felt so good to get back to something that I love and have such a drive for - pun intended.
We got our Accelera 651-sport tires and it was time to head West!
Before completely making our way to Las Vegas, we of course had to take advantage of the incredible scenery for some photo ops.
And just like that, after a smooth and uneventful road trip we finally arrived!
Getting in line for practice and qualifying I obviously felt the nerves kick in. But they were the good kind of nerves that come from adrenaline, excitement and anticipation. It didn’t take long for the muscle memory to kick back in and for me to feel that comfortable feeling behind the wheel. It was as if I hadn’t missed a beat and I was back to doing what I love and what felt natural.
At this point I don’t think I’m the quickest in the competition but I’m definitely sideways and having fun! The things I remind myself that are the most important in this sport.
Time for Top 16!
We didn’t snag photos of all the battles that went down, but enjoy the ones we did collect!
Above photo was in the finals. Down to Brandon and myself. It was in this moment that I knew I messed up. Chasing was my most out of practice state of mind, as I hadn’t chased anyone in over a full year. My front tires + overall car set up made it difficult to keep up with Brandon.
He deserved the win! Turns out, we did end up on the podium though! Second place, not bad for taking a complete year off and for a fresh team just trying to dust off the old cobwebs in a competitive environment. So many gnarly drivers out there! Holley LS Fest was no joke and I can’t wait to return with more grip and speed for the next event.
Sunsets and smoke - what could be better? A little burnout action in the sunset to end the day.
Thanks again Holley for having us! We enjoyed the track, the people and the good vibes! See you in 2020!
