Klutch Kickers - Round 3 - Holt, FL [6/13/2020]

As I’m sure everyone knows, 2020 did not pan out as expected. We originally had a few events on our schedule that didn’t allow us to attend any of the Klutch Kickers rounds. However, after one event got canceled after another, we saw there was an opportunity to pack up and head to Florida to jump into a competition environment.

To be honest, it was quite a frustrating event for Team 144. Lessons were learned and we were very appreciative to everyone who lended a hand and shared their knowledge with us as we had some unexpected issues with the car. That’s drifting though - gotta make the best of it and move forward!! Still a fun event, nonetheless!

We went from the car running super smooth at the MSR track in Houston to not being able to get out of 2nd gear which lead us to lose lots of power and speed. Something happened between those two events that left us confused and frustrated at our circumstances. Nothing seemed to make sense as to why the car was not running as it was before.

Luckily, our dudes over at Enjuku were nice enough to lend a helping hand and diagnosed a few issues for us. It’s always refreshing to see the drifting community come together and help each other problem solve when unexpected issues arise. Huge thanks to these guys!!!

Basically, we learned that there was a failed injector that we did not have on hand to swap out so we had to make the best of the rest of the event. Somehow, we were still able to qualify 1st out of 64 drivers!

Jumped back into practice before the competition started. Car was still not running right but had to try my best!

Unfortunately, after our top 64 bye run and winning our top 32 battle, we lost our first battle in the top 16. With the car not running correctly, we were down on power and just couldn’t keep up on this tight track. Bummer!! But we had to keep our heads up!

Even though this event did not go as we had hoped it would, it was still super rad to drive with everyone there and get even more comfortable on the Klutch Kickers track. The vibes were awesome, super relaxed and chill atmosphere for sure. The Klutch Kickers crew is doing a great job at keeping the sport fun and making sure the drivers are kept in mind and taken care of!
